Comment: "I ended up using closing remarks since the day after they were just having individual conversations instead of sessions"

Hello,
I think this is the idea. Everything has been done that needed to be done.
I hope this helps.

Note from asker:
It would have been the idea if they did not have an another day full of sessions following that one...So I'm thinking more a term relating to "Closing comments" |

Closing speeches/summaries during a conference may be called "deliberations".

Of course whether it is the end of the conference, the end of the day, or the end of each of a variable number of portions of a day will depend on how "session" is defined.

It will also depend what exactly is meant by the French. Is the the closing speech by the organizer, for instance, or just "the bell" telling everyone school is over for the day and they can go and party, and return bright and early the following morning, of course. Though I know several people at a conference in Berlin right now who are going to bunk off to Potsdam for a day.

Work? People don't go to conferences to work! They go for massages and fine food, like those American insurance people, preferably at someone else's great expense!

Note from asker:
I was thinking about that but it has more the meaning of closing after different working sessions...Maybe I'm thinking too hard about it :-) |

I don't like this, but I constantly see this expression for exactly what you describe!

Close
If it's a heading in the day's programme I would simply say 'Close': e.g. see the London ProZ conference at http://www.proz.com/conference/55?page=schedule:
16:45-17:00 Close
16:45-17:00 Close

Closing session/adjournment
As stated by other colleagues, depends on what the sessions entail.
