Thanks, Martin!
agree David Vaughn : Sweet! Apparently this is live and not télé. I think the "show" is probably unnecessary, if there is enough context.

Thanks, Vaughn! / Yes, indeed... I was thinking from a TV perspective, where 'show' is possibly more likely to be used; but as a general genre of production, where a non-countable can be used, I agree.

Thanks, Margaret!
agree Helen Shiner : About to say the same as Vaughn - this is not TV. Wonder there's something ironic or pejorative in the FR with the use of spectacle here, so perhaps something along the lines of 'extravanganzas' is meant .

Thanks, Helen! I don't think 'spectacle' in FR (merely = show) carries so much weight as 'spectacle' in EN, so I would try to avoid over-interpretation, unless of course the wider context justifies it?
agree Bourth (X) : "Light entertainment", not to be confused with "son et lumière". / Kultcha!

Thnaks, Alex! Always begs the question: "What's the antonym?" 'heavy entertainment'? 'dark entertainment'?...

casual entertainment

Hello,

In other words, less artistic, less formal kinds of entertainment

such as stand-up comedy, magic shows, etc...

I hope this helps.
