Catalan term

perfil/doble perfil

Catalan to English Other Business/Commerce (general) HR
This is one of those words that always gets me.
In many cases, like this one, "profile" does not fit very well:
"La conceptualització, la creativitat, etc., són imprescindibles en el procés creatiu. El doble perfil del personal docent busca aquesta dualitat en els continguts del programa."
In particular, I am unsure about the "doble perfil" (though I'd also like general help with "perfil").
I have some thoughts of my own on this but feel there is no simple answer!

Other examples are:
"Perfils professionals amb acreditada experiència" (describing people who may apply)
"...els instruments que li permetin adquirir un perfil professional innovador posseïdor dels coneixements i capacitats..."
"Per assolir aquest perfil innovador, la pràctica del creatiu s’integrarà en el context del mercat real, global, complex, canviant i molt competitiu"

Many thanks

Hi Ross and Sheila
Thanks for your answers.
Given the lack of any one clearly correct answer (at least no one answer is clear to me), I am closing this question without awarding points, rather than picking one that may be wrong and it being logged in the "system"... thanks

Here's another example where I feel "profile" just wouldn't be right - mainly, I think, because you can't train someone in all the elements that make up a "profile".
When we say, for example, "the profile for this job", we are likely to list things such as personality traits and experience as well as specific training.
For example, this from http://www.careernomics.com/Candidates/HelpProfile.php"... search CVs/résumés using the information collected in the career profiles. Search criteria include: name, work permit, education, work experience and preferences, and language skills."

"A partir d’aquest diploma de postgrau es vol potenciar la formació del perfil del dissenyador de mobles o moblista com un agent amb una actitud i una metodologia diferenciades respecte a d’altres disciplines projectuals"

dual role / dual nature

Maybe 'dual role' would be possible here. Or even 'dual nature'? But you could also say 'profile', particularly in 'professional profile'.

PROFESSIONAL/OCCUPATIONAL JOB PROFILE (doble see below)

Doble perfil > It is essential that teaching staff have both of these qualities in order to ensure that they are also present/reflected in programme content.

SPAIN
PERFIL PROFESIONAL
PROFESSIONAL/OCCUPATIONAL JOB PROFILE

Description of the characteristics a worker must possess for a particular job (experience, aptitude, attitude to work, leadership or social skills, etc.). It is indispensable for thorough personnel selection and to establish vocational training needs, and may have a bearing on occupational classification and functional mobility .

It seems that the "doble perfil" in this case refers to the ability to conceptualize AND be creative (both important for teaching staff because they're qualities that should be reflected in the programme).

I think the best option for "perfil" in general depends on the particular sentence. "PROFESSIONAL/OCCUPATIONAL JOB PROFILE" could do the job, but there may be other (better) options.

"A partir d’aquest diploma de postgrau es vol potenciar la formació del perfil del dissenyador de mobles o moblista com un agent amb una actitud i una metodologia diferenciades respecte a d’altres disciplines projectuals"

Can't you just ignore the "perfil" in this case: "...training of furniture designers..."

Perhaps in mane cases you need to think about the meaning of the sentence as a whole rather than getting fixated on a particular problematic word. In the case of awkward words there's probably not going to be any solution that works in every case.
Note from asker:
Hi Ross I agree with your last two points - ie that ignoring it is the right thing in some cases and in others, re-working the whole thing. Thank you for your help.
