Interesting I think you have raised a very interesting question. I always translate the official institution names (e.g., Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores --> Ministry of Foreign Affairs), but honestly I have not received any instruction to do or not to do so.

Names not usually translated jm: We don't usually translate the names of institutions that appear on certificates. You can provide a translation in square brackets, but the official institutional name also needs to appear for legal reasons.

Well, the context is a Spanish Birth Certificate. The place of birth is "Hospital Materno Infantil". I think that Nick Buchanan's option is right, because -as Emma Goldsmith explains- it is not only for mothers and babies (this would be just a Maternity Hospital).

Do you have any more information? As you can see, the answer depends on the particular hospital and the extent to which it cares for older children.

neutral NKW (X) : A Children's Hospital can admit patients up to their early teens, whereas this expression seems to suggest a Mother and Child unit dealing with mothers and neonates/very young children. Would a Children's Hospital not be translated as Hospital Pediátrico?

Children´s Hospital

The translation offered "Maternity and Children´s Hospital" is probably more exact and more correct. However, I think this is one of the cases where you can opt for precision or a more natural or authentic translation. I am American. I don´t think I´ve ever heard of a "Maternity and Children´s Hospital" in my life. Most hits on google are in random countries like the Philippines, Japan, Saudi Arabia. (?) I might go with "Children´s Hospital" because it´s just so much more prevalent. Judgment call.
