Clifford: I think your doubt was quite justified. These are more than just commercial canned anchovies. There are several recipes in Google for "embotado" fish involving a considerable amount of hard work, and this is probably what is on offer.
MESON DEL PUERTO
Moll de Ponent 66 (00 34 971 340 175). There is excellent Basque seafood cooking to be had at the tavern-style Meson del Puerto, beside the Xoriguer gin factory at the inland end of the harbour. Some favourites include home-preserved anchovies in oil, Navarra-style cardoons, fresh tuna with Piquillo peppers, and salt cod a la vizcaina.

Canned/Tinned anchovies
It means they are preseved in a glass jar. Good luck!

Hmmmm... maybe the restaurant sells these bottles of anchovies as they are a speciality of the house. I know that in the north of Spain and in Catalonia (probably in other areas of Spain too) tinned or bottle anchovies are very typicall and considered a delicacy.

Hi, I would choose 'anchoas envasadas' or 'anchoas enlatadas'. If the container is made of glass, then envasadas would be the best option. If the container is metallic, I would go for enlatadas. Hope this helps, kind regards.

'embotada' can refer to any kind of container, so in my opinion it is best to leave that out of the translation
