Hmmm. I like the word for its conciseness, but it may be a bit misleading, esp. as the second ref. defines the three parts as base, shaft, and capital. In the above explanations, it's more clear that the shaft itself has three distinct areas of decoration. I think that it might just require a parenthetical explanation, whether I use tripartite or "tritostyle". Many thanks to both of you. |
