Spanish term

sin que ninguno de estos trabajos apunte metodológicamente a una configuración

Spanish to English Science Archaeology
Dear translators,

I am terribly stuck with this phrase. I understand all the words, but am at a total loss as to what it really means!! I was wondering if you could help me to clarify. Here is the context:

En Chile, pocas investigaciones han incorporado análisis multivariado para la prospección arqueológica y/o la caracterización química de áreas de actividad (Castelleti et al. 2006; Muñoz et al. 2005); sin que ninguno de estos trabajos apunte metodológicamente a una configuración de los procesos formativos del sitio.

and neither of these works pointing methodologically to a configuration

of a site's formative processes.

I think that it is saying that of the two works cited did not suggest a method for configuring a (the?) site's formative processes (that is, how it developed as a settlement)
