Italian term

finissimi

Italian to English Other Textiles / Clothing / Fashion fabrics
Tessuti in cotone doppio ritorto, finissimi e morbidi, selezionati dalle migliori tessiture italiane.

Tessuti in pregiati filati di cotone finissimo, morbidi ed impeccabili.

I'm inclined to go with "fine", if only beacuse I can't find a suitable superlative.

ultra fine

perhaps ?
Peer comment(s):

agree S E (X) : Ultra fine would have been my first choice. Super fine is also used, as per Shera Lyn.

Can't it be "not thick" after all?
Peer comment(s):

disagree kringle : fine is a good quality in this context, thin is not

OK , I thought the other way as well, not simply good quality, hence my suggestion, but I do agree for this context the choice must definitely be "good quality". :)

the thinnest

penso che "thin" sia la scelta giusta in questo caso e il superlativo di "thin" fa come sopra.

indeed. "finest " ( superlative of "fine") means " migliore" , not "finissimo".

superfine

but even fine is fine!

You might want to say fine (is it cotton?) shirting

fine cotton conveys the idea of luxury in English. Sometimes the gauge is also specifies, but it's not necessary.

Some sites say 120's or 160's cotton, and if you had access to this information it might be an idea to add it.

agree S E (X) : Agree with super fine, but disagree with just fine - In my experience, "fine" means luxury while "super fine" refers to the particular grade of cotton. Ultra fine is also used, as per polyglot45.

thanks! I agree that both would work - only this does have more ghits for what it's worth. Also, fine accompanied by the gauge would probably be OK.

sheer

Hi Paul,

I usually use "sheer" to describe very fine fabric.

or

This bikini panty is made of ultra-sheer fabric for a sophisticated style.
