Spanish term

posición escolar del alumno

Spanish to English Social Sciences Education / Pedagogy
Estoy traduciendo unas notas de un colegio italiano que fueron previamente traducidas del italiano al español. Al comienzo, hay una sección que dice:

"Ficha Escolar

Datos Personales del alumno: APELLIDO: xxx; NOMBRE: xxx; FECHA DE NACIMIENTO: xxx; LUGAR DE NACIMIENTO: xxx.- Del lado izquierdo de la segunda página: **Posición Escolar del alumno**: Año Escolar xxx– Nº DE REGISTRO GENERAL: xxx; AÑO: IV; SECCION: U; MENCION: “Liceo Scientifico” – PROVIENE DE: Este mismo Liceo; TITULO DE ADMISION: Aprobado; INSCRIPCION: Primera vez"

¿Cómo se diría esto en inglés? Muchas gracias a todos

Yvonne Becker (asker) Sep 18, 2010:
No ranking Para aclarar, no se trata de la posición del estudiante con respecto a sus compañeros; sencillamente, dónde está ubicado en el colegio en ese año escolar en particular
axies Sep 15, 2010:
to me given the context 10:09pm It clearly tells us the the year at school<-> AÑO: IV; SECCION: U
ormiston Sep 15, 2010:
to me given the context it's simply what class they are in at school
axies Sep 15, 2010:
posición escolar del alumno Could it be in relation to: the student's geographic position rather than his/her aptitudes etc?!
Jan Castillo Sep 14, 2010:
Yvonne, I would agree with you, except that immediately following Posición Escolar, it specifically states Año Escolar. Please check my possibilities below. Good luck!
Yvonne Becker (asker) Sep 14, 2010:
Gracias por la sugerencia, David. Creo que en este caso se refiere al año escolar que cursa el estudiante en ese momento y la sección en la que está ubicado, además de la mención

academic details

This might be a good broad option to cover class year, section, etc.

It also parallels well with personal details (a possible title of the previous section).

agree ormiston : after looking carefully (and rather late on!) I see it is a heading

academic standing OR class ranking

Academic standing would refer to whether or not the student is enrolled in a regular or degree program, how far along in the program he/she is, whether she's is on probation, and other details regarding progress in the school. Most schools also keep track of class rankings, placing the pupil at number 1, number 18, etc., depending on academic achievement as compared to peers.
Finally, academic standing can also take into contact both student's progress AND class rank, to determine whether standing is good, whether there is a warning, or dismissal. Please see second link.
Example sentence:

Academic standing - Good

educational background

(school) grade

This designates the actual class reached, not the pupil's marks. Perhaps succinct but would sound OK in an academic profile.
