4 mins
stabilising basic life functions
I took a two week intensive first aid course in Canada and would not say "securing". "Stabilising" implies to get an organ under control and correctly functioning.
6 mins
providing (support of) vital functions
vital functions je podle mých zkušeností zavedený termín

1 hr
watch/measure/monitor vital signs
ensuring that they are all in order is taken for granted, naturally :) Vital signs are monitored at set intervals - could be 10 minutes, 30 minutes, etc, depending on the condition of the patient, and are acted on accordingly.
You could add 'basic' as well, but this is unnecessary as all health professionals know what they are - there are some extra ones as well, but they aren't always monitored.

3 hrs
take vital signs
sounds closer to the actual act of measuring pulse, temp., BP, etc. you "take" them.
7 hrs
providing for basic vital functions
This is an active effort not monitoring!
