Italian term

in cui si concentra lo zoccolo duro dei consumatori

Italian to English Marketing Marketing / Market Research
This is doesn't seem to be "hard core" because in the context it doesn't sound right. It must be something else. Would this just be the "core of consumers"?

Context:

in which the core consumers ... are concentrated

"in which the core consumers of a product are concentrated"
No "hard core" definitely sounds wrong, too extreme. However, if you just remove the word "hard" it fits perfectly and is commonly used:

agree manducci : consumer base is concentrated - don't think 'diehard' works in this context Possibly, but I don't think either works to tell the truth. 'Core consumers' or 'consumer base' are infinitely better.

Thanks, manducci, but "diehard" would be better then "hard core," I think.

hard core

I think, if you look at the dictionary meaning, that hard core is a perfect translation for this context. The fact that this term has been "abused" may make you hesitant to use it, but its meaning in plain English is quite clear.
