French term

en +X

French to English Tech/Engineering Textiles / Clothing / Fashion Equipment installation
Source: Tracer au sol, la position en +X du module de coupe (bord du profile en ail d’avion) :
Target: Mark on the floor the position of the cutting module in +X (edge of the section. crossways):

Is this correct? What does "en +X" mean?

This is describing how to mark the position on the floor for placing the different modules of the machinery.

French from France, for US.
Proposed translations (English)
3 +1 along/on/in the +X axis

Discussion

dianash (asker) May 9, 2011:
Could be, but now I'm wondering whether it just means to label the mark you make on the floor as +X because there are other marks that labeled X and Y.
philgoddard May 9, 2011:
Could it mean draw round the outside, so that the shape you draw is fractionally larger than the machine? Just a guess.

along/on/in the +X axis

"X" refers to the X-axis as you've already gathered, I suspect.
The "+" means in the positive direction from a datum or reference point O.
Personally, I prefer "along the +X axis" (or "along +X") but I think "in" or "on" could be used instead.
