For years, since the mid-19th century, crankshaft bearings were coated with a soft alloy formulated by an inventor - whose name was associated with it. Bearings were said to be babbitted.
The term is still in use today, so the approriate term in this case would be Aluminum Babbitt (although Babbitt never used aluminum, the principle is the same.)
