Hi everybody,
I'm post-editing a text that was written in European Spanish (Spanish) in which I see "cuota" in several instances.
My translator seems to think it was "amount" which I disagree with, the editor thinks it was "payment" and now I'm lost, looking for other options. Maybe "installment"?
Here are the contexts I see this word in:
Cuota fija:
La cuota fija se establece en setenta y un mil seiscientos vientiocho euros.... correspondientes a once milliones... por mes, ...
Cuota variable:
La cuota de consumo variable se establece en 7,25 pesetas por metro cubico tratado.
Revision de cuotas:
Las cuotas se revisaran en el mismo porcentage que el Ente Supramunicipal o los Ayuntamientos o la entidad que estos designen, revisen sus tarifas a ala AIE y entraran en vigor al mismo tiempo.

Because this makes the most sense for cuota variable, and it works for the other two examples. Consumo variable and metro cubico tratado sound like this is for gas or water service. Fee implies a professional service to me.

The words "metro cubico tratado" would seem to indicate we are dealing with a water utility (information that you could have usefully provided to us, BTW). If so, utilities usually charge fixed or variable rates for their services.

Discussion
Do you really think your specification, i.e. "text written in Spanish" is at all helpful?
Or perhaps the word "context" is the problem?
