Colegas,
“XXX is the departure point for paleontology fans to decide among the wide variety of options they have when it comes to all the different paleontological sites to be visited in the province.”
Suena bien?

(Just amateurs the first time around will do if you don't want to repeat the word twice in the same sentence.)
XXX provides a perfect base from which amateur paleontologists/ amateurs can explore paleonthological sites throughout the province.

Thanks for your note. It made me look again and realize that I had stuck and "h" in paleontology where it didn't belong! In the context of tourism, you actually could say "fans of paleontology" or "lovers of paleontology" as it is obvious that most visitors would consider paleontology as a hobby rather than as a profession.

Thanks Jenni! You´re right about "amateurs". It´s a false friend. |
