I quite agree. "Mecha" can mean "lock of hair", "hair highlight", "wick" or "fuse". Since the sun is mentioned, I have doubts about the meaning. We really need to read the whole poem...

Some context would really help here. You have it listed at poetry/literature, but knowing nothing about the text makes it difficult to help. Is it a poem? Who is speaking and who are they speaking to? I know "mechas" to refer to hair highlights. But knowing nothing else, Its hard to say for sure
