Discussion

Clara Chassany Jun 21, 2012:
Je l'interprète comme "ne vous précipitez pas", améliorez d'abord votre modèle opérationnel avant de passer à l'étape suivant. La proposition d'Alain rejoint assez bien l'idée il me semble.
Bertrand Leduc (asker) Jun 21, 2012:
Merci Alain La phrase mentionée par Alain est la phrase qui suit cette métaphore!
Alain Boulé Jun 21, 2012:
I found this sentence:

The second insight is the need to ride your own wave before you jump into another pond. Taking time to test and refine a core operational(and revenue) model before attempting further expansion always pays off. T
Marc Theriault Jun 21, 2012:
Exactement... c'est une métaphore, et sans contexte, inutile de se casser la tête. : )
Jonathan MacKerron Jun 21, 2012:
not a standard English saying what is it supposed to mean? It makes no sense "ride your own wave" is an obvious surfing reference, but there is no surfing in a pond!

Toujours aller au bout des choses/ Finir ce que l'on a commencé

Qui trop embrasse mal étreint. A force de tout faire, l'on finit par ne rien faire et donc de tout perdre.
Maintenant, suivant le contexte, vous devez pouvoir vous approprier cette expression.

"from the founder is essential if it is to spread beyond the organization.
The second insight is the need to ride your own wave before you jump into
another pond. Taking time to test and refine a core operational (and revenue)
model before attempting further expansion always pays off. This is naturally more
difficult for those working to scale their impact beyond their own organization.
But this is the very reason that it is crucial to align on shared goals and outcomes
in order to build coherence across an ecosystem of mission-driven actors. Take
Steve Collins’s example: his early investment in rigorously documenting the feasi-
bility of Valid Nutrition’s business model is allowing him to focus the resources of
major industrial players directly on malnutrition, creating a quantum leap in social
impact."
