Russian term

свой (in context)

Russian to English Art/Literary General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
I cannot decide to whom 'свой' refers in the following paragraph. They are the words of an artist:
Когда творчество проникнуто любовью, восхищением перед красотой – оно всегда интересно, актуально и современно. Скажу прямо, я не мыслю живопись без ощущения ритма, звучания времени. Кажется, Леонардо сказал, что музыка и живопись – сестры. Всегда верю в молодежь. В ее талант. Связь со ***своим*** временем. Стараюсь понять и почувствовать ощущения молодыми эпохи. Учусь у них дерзости, поиску.
Does 'своим' refer to youth or to the writer? The previous phrase has 'ее', as one would expect, but in the problem phrase I am not sure whether to presume 'в' as being understood before 'Связь' or 'это'. 'Its links to my time' or 'and in its links to its time'. Could native speakers of Russian clarify this for me, please.

Discussion

John Sowerby (asker) Jul 22, 2012:
Thank you all for your input; the problem was the disjointed and fragmentary nature of the text, leading to the necessity of making some guesses about what the writer implied, but did not state.
Mariusz Kuklinski Jul 16, 2012:
So what is exactly the question? ???
Yana Seropyan Jul 15, 2012:
В связь молодежи со своим временем. It looks like the author believes in "the young being linked/ connected to their time", "being in their time context". Something like that

Всегда верю в молодежь. - refers to the writer and his feelings.

В ее талант. Связь со ***своим*** временем. - all this is about the youth, their feelings, etc.

And - Стараюсь понять и почувствовать ощущения молодыми эпохи. Учусь у них дерзости, поиску. - refers to the writer again
