Galvanism
________________________________________
In medicine, galvanism refers to any form of medical treatment involving the application of pulses of electric current to body tissues provoking the contraction muscles that are stimulated by the electric current. This effect was named by Alessandro Volta after his contemporary, the scientist Luigi Galvani, who investigated the effect of electricity on dissected animals in the 1780's and 1790's.

Electrical brain stimulation was first used in the first half of the 19th century by pioneering researchers such as Luigi Rolando[citation needed](1773–1831) and Pierre Flourens[citation needed](1794–1867), to study the brain localization of function, following the discovery by Italian physician Luigi Galvani (1737–1798) that nerves and muscles were electrically excitable. The human cortex was also stimulated electrically by neurosurgeons and neurologists sExamples of therapeutic EBS are:
• Cranial electrotherapy stimulation (CES)

disagree Polangmar : Without a doubt it's plain wrong. || I don't think "galwanizacja" is used in the meaning "terapia elektrowstrząsowa", or "elektrowstrząsy": http://tinyurl.com/csmyln6 . Nevertheless, thank you for finally supporting my answer.:-)
