Russian term

собственные нужды vs хозяйственные нужды

Russian to English Tech/Engineering Energy / Power Generation report on investment in power stations
I think here хозяайсвтвенный means "domestic", so I'm having trouble with distinguishing "own needs" from "domestic/local needs". They are both quite small, with the хозяйственные нужды being much smaller. I don't think either is power consumed in the generation of electricity, but i could be wrong.

Discussion

The Misha Aug 27, 2012:
We routinely differentiate between personal and business use in US parlance. You could probably extrapolate a little from here and call them internal/own use and business use, It's not like anyone is really going to question that on an accounting statement.
David Knowles (asker) Aug 27, 2012:
To LanaUK No real context I'm afraid. They are simply lines in a table, and seem to refer to electricity produced but consumed before it ever reaches the electricity grid.
LanaUK Aug 27, 2012:
Can you post some context,please?

auxiliary vs utility

if your terms refer to power consumption, then they are defined as follows:

собственные нужды - this is the power used to supply the auxiliary devices (as opposite to the main process equipment)

хозяйственные нужды - this is the power used to supply utility devices (for personnel accommodation and comfort)

No David, instead of "auxiliary requirements" there should be "auxiliary power" or "auxiliary load" and "utility load" accordingly.
Note from asker:
Thanks Igor Does that mean I could translate собственные нужды as "auxiliary requirements"? You've confirmed my understanding of хозяйственный in this context.
