German term

der auch oder in Kombination mit CyberKnife konventionelle Krebstherapieverfahre

German to English Medical Law: Contract(s) Cooperation Agreement
Original Text:

Translation:

Furthermore, CyberKnife is an integral element of the oncologic network of north Germany, and as such in a position to offer ww patients a comprehensive treatment approach, which...*

This "der auch oder in kombination mit" part is really confusing me. Can anyone explan/suggest a translation?

Thanks!

Discussion

Rosa Paredes Nov 20, 2012:
Agree with Bernhard. My suggestion is quite similar.
Bernhard Sulzer Nov 20, 2012:
regarding sentence logic The original is saying that ... Cyberknife is in a position to also offer a comprehensive treatment approach that includes conventional cancer therapy methods that can, however, be combined with Cyberknife. Reason being that Cyberknife is an integral part of the oncological network of Northern Germany." It sounds as if Cyberknife is offering these other more conventional methods "themselves" even though they are simply connected to a network within which these other methods are being offered separately from Cyberknife or together/in combination with the Cyberknife method(s)/approach.
Bernhard Sulzer Nov 20, 2012:
the idea being ...which also includes conventional cancer treatments that can be combined with CyberKnife (which is not a conventional treatment).

....which includes conventional cancer treatments in conjunction with CyberKnife

The original is redundant, "auch oder in Kombination" = also or in combination; either will do.
which includes conventional cancer treatments in cinjunction with CyberKnife

When I say either will do, I mean: "also in combination", "or in combination"
No need to include both in the translation.

in or without combination with CyberKnife

"..offer a comprehensive approach to our patients suffering from tumors including traditional cancer therapy in or without combination with CyberKnife."

("..offer to our patients suffering from tumors a comprehensive approach including traditional cancer therapy in or without combination with CyberKnife")

Let's see what we can do to smoothen this out a bit..:

"..which also includes traditional cancer therapy on its own or in combination with CyberKnife/ the CyberKnife method."
Peer comment(s):

neutral Bernhard Sulzer : in or without combination with .... there has to be a better way to say this. Especially the "without combination with" part. :0)
