Muchas gracias a todos. Lo he dejado en inglés, como me han sugerido.

Untranslatable Patinba's right; you'll have to leave it in English.

Forward short leg stands very close to the batsman, hence "short", on the leg side (his left as he faces the bowler, if he's right-handed), hence "leg", and just in front of the crease, hence "forward". Like the other close fielders his job is to catch the ball if the batsman mishits it or it snicks the bat, thereby dismissing the batsman. It's a very dangerous position, and nowadays forward short legs always wear a helmet. People have been killed by being struck on the head by a misdirected pull or hook shot (square shorts on the leg side). Not for nothing are certain fielding positions close to the batsman technically called "silly" (silly mid-on, silly mid-off, silly point).

Leave as is Unlike baseball, there is no Hispanic cricket following, so only the main positions have Spanish names. I think you will have to leave the names in English.

Poor thing! and here we are pestering you with all these opinions and links :-(
Maria Elena Martinez (asker) Nov 21, 2012:
Yes, Lorena, that's all I need
lorenab23 Nov 21, 2012:
@ Maria You are not asking "What cricket player is most like baseball's pitcher?" That's the context, isn't it? you just want the translation of forward leg, right?

Actually, the mid-wicket fielder and the forward short leg fielder are both in close-up positions where they often need to throw the ball at the stumps but these don't equate with a pitcher at baseball, who throws the baseball to the catcher from the mound to get a striker to retire. Not really very comparable, unfortunately.
Note from asker:
Thanks!, but can you tell me how you translate "forward short leg"in Spanish? I have no idea
