Japanese term
(シェア7.29%、前年比▲0.09pt)、
Japanese to English

Finance (general)
前年比▲0.09pt
How would you translate the following?:
(シェア7.29%、前年比▲0.09pt)、
(同5.62%、▲0.11pt)
I am assuming 0.09pt is 9%?
Thank you

Assuming the term is from a TDB survey, No. 1 bank was voted 0.09% less than the previous year as a so-called main bank. It seems a year over year decrease from 7.38% to 7.29%.

: 前年比 is CHANGE to previous year, regardless of direction - filled triangle is UP not down ! So final meaning must be 0.09 pt UP compared to previous year IMHO

▲means a decrease, a downward change. NOT an increase. Look up ”▲の意味.” For example, http://oshiete.goo.ne.jp/qa/5151808.html

I think it is "points". First, it makes no sense to write % and then pt and second, it shows a year-on-year increase of a share (as far as I can guess, this is from the Teikoku Databank 2012 statistics?)

: 0.09 point = 0.09 % difference, increased from previous year share (which was therefore 7.20 %)

Discussion
On the point of ▲ vs. ▼, your new reference from Teikaku bank, coupled with your in-field experience, makes me reconsider my previous position ... though I'm not reversing my statement in regard for instance to scientific or mathematical papers, I'm now inclined to believe on your authority that this is indeed a special usage in accounting and not an error/misprint.
Thank you for the thorough and interesting discussion.
Best wishes

Besides, I wouldn't take a question-answer page between peoples on a generalistic portal like that as an authoritative source.
The question than is whether the filled sign ▲ is equivalent to ▼ or to △ .
I maintain that it means △, as I just said.
The filling could be an artifact, error or whatever.
Of course, more data/context on the page could well provide the right answer to this.
