Friendship is essential to the soul.

This the motto of a greek fraternity, Omega Psi Phi. I've seen several explanations of how these are the initials of the saying in greek, but none to explain thoroughly.

...is what google says. The gender of the first wrong looks wrong to me but I'm not sure as ancient Greek is not my forte. Ωφέλημo, at least in modern Greek, means something more like beneficial/good for the soul rather than essential, but all the sites mentioning the fraternity have the motto you quoted "friendship is essential to the soul", so I wouldn't change that.
