Sampoerna is very creative in disguising their true message. Once they used How low can you go? to market its low nicotine cigarette. Or, Go Ahead with a stress on the A, to market Sampoerna A product line (=intepretable as Please, go ahead smoking Sampoerna A).
Gak ada loe gak rame is a two-pronged message:
(a) literally, there will be no fun without you;
(b) there will be no fun without smoking [this brand].
It will be hard to find a translation that covers both, IMHO. I don't know if any English speaker will ever interpret you as you and/or smoking this brand like Indonesian may interpret loe as kamu dan/atau rokok merek ini.
To introduce informality, ain't is a good way, I guess. You may even try the double negative version that seems to be very popular in the web (with more than 114k hits):
without you, it ain't no fun
Note from asker:
Wonderful, Erich! I will have to explain this double meaning in a footnote to the translation. It is very clever advertising. The crux is that smoking is essential to enjoyment of men's get-togethers. |
Further, it's like Australian men and drinking...it's no fun unless they drink together, too often to excess. |

Thank you, Rona. I see it is a slogan of Sampoerna Hijau. I had no idea. |
