During drying, wood is subjected to highly complicated internal stresses.
They come about because the outside of a piece of green wood dries below the fiber saturation point and tries to shrink before the interior is ready for
shrinkage. They are greatly influenced by the temperature and relative humidity of the air in which the wood is dried.
