Spanish term

diligenciar

Spanish to English Other
"El proveedor deberá diligenciar el anexo correspondiente de esta especificación donde se encuentran los repuestos recomendados"

Dear colleagues,
I need an English (or Hungarian) equivalent for the verb "diligenciar". It appears several times in a product specification that I am translating from Spanish into Hungarian. It comes also as "documento diligenciado".

The specification comes from Colombia.

Dear colleagues, thank you for all replies.

What is the purpose of the Annex? Just to provide additional details? A form to fill and acknowledge?...
Jorge Merino Mar 6, 2013:
Hello BBOrsolya, "diligenciar" could be several things depending on context, for example, "process", "fill", "review in full", etc.
I guess the previous text in the specification will provide more clues as to what "diligenciar" means in this specific case.

fully [and unequivocally] fill the annex

The DRAE defines "diligenciar" as follows:

Tramitar un asunto administrativo con constancia escrita de que se hace.
"Tramitar" is best translated as "to process" (process administratively), through every step involved, so that the matter can be followed up to full completion.

Therefore, I would say that "diligenciar" here means "to fill the annex in full, so that no doubt may exist for a reader as to what is required".

However, I can tell you that a Spaniard would say "rellenar" (that is, fill in) instead of "diligenciar" (on the underlying idea that (a) the annex must be filled and (b) it must be filled so that -away from the writer- anybody reading it is NOT left in the slightest doubt about what is requested).

That's all I can say -I would LOVE being able to say it in Hungarian...
