This is somthing I translated and I would like to know if ... this exchange was interested in... sounds good.

With no change in their own political
perspective, a bilateral exchange of commercial nature
would gather momentum; this exchange was interested in
the new Argentine foreign investment law that allowed for
the possibility of making remittances abroad and the oil
exploitation concession to American companies

Meaning? It's certainly better split into two sentences. However, do you mean that the exchange itself was of a commercial nature, or that the exchange was about the commercial nature of something and, if so, what? Does the new law allow for X "and the oil exploitation concession to American companies"? Or, did the exchange focus on X "and the oil exploitation concession to American companies"? (X = the possibility of making remittances abroad)

General "This exchange was interested in" is wrong because the verb "to be interested in" requires an animate subject. You need to look at the rest of the sentence too and try to split it into at least two shorter sentences, as well as correcting use and omission of articles. The use of the past tense ("this exchange was"), sits rather uncomfortably after a conditional verb ("would gather").

You also need to change that to which in the above sentence and , of course, add some punctuation.

"This exchange was centred around the new Argentine foreign investment law, which allowed for the possibility of making remittances abroad." etc.

I also agree with B.D. Finch above: 'would gather momentum' doesn't sit right with me either.

Hi susiq! In answer to your question: because that is used with restrictive clauses and which is used with non-restrictive clauses. In this cases, it is a non-restrictive clause because you already mentioned which law you are talking about. So, theoretically you can omit the clause "which allowed...abroad" and the primary clause "This exchange was centred around the new Argentine foreign investment law" would still have the same meaning.
