French term

prise en charge

French to English Law/Patents Law (general) Divorce settlement
S’agissant de leur participation respective à la prise en charge de l’enfant...

Il est mentionné plus loin "garde de l'enfant" et "entretien". Prise en charge est mentionné plusieurs fois tel quel.

J'ai vu les termes donné précédemment mais je ne suis pas tout à fait satisfaite - j'ai pensé à assumption of responsibility

Merci d'avance

Law also, since I am not too familiar with law terms I was not sure which to use - the document is an agreement that will be submitted for approval. I'll visit the websites you have referred Allegro and will take a decision.

thanks a lot!

U got it right Nikki! this is Swiss terminology - the whole sentence is: S’agissant de leur participation respective à la prise en charge de l’enfant et de la répartition des frais d’entretien, ils ont convenu ce qui suit

i think however we are not talking only of financial support but the whole custody/financial support details
Nikki Scott-Despaigne May 7, 2013:
Hello Valérie,
It would be helpful to post the rest of the sentence. Unless there is some surprise in the further context, then what it means is fairly clear. However, in order to phrase this one correctly, the whole sentence would really help.
I think you will need to consider "particpation respective à la prise en charge" for the meaning. This is probably referring to financial contribution. Which country is concerned here? This looks like Swiss terminology rather than French terminology, where I'd expect to see phrases such as "contribution à l'entretien et à l'éducation", "autorité parentale", "droit d’accueil" etc.

neutral Nikki Scott-Despaigne : The likely solution, although here is no mention of "éducation" in the original. more context would help.//Yes, included in the notion of care in EN, but less so in "prise en charge". Need more context, methinks!

I added education in brackets as an option, but it is invariably implied
