AllegroTrans: I agree; Judicial Interdiction sounds Spanglish. To my surprise, I found that entry in many sites as pasted above, even in one of this site. That's why I included it, but I myself would use "legal deprivation of civilian rights" if the asker wants a formal translation, or else Billh's straightfoward "declaration of incapacity".

I also included it because it appears with this same meaning in Black's Law Dictionary.

neutral AllegroTrans : Where I live (UK) there is no such thing as a judicial interdiction, nor is there in most of the EN-spkg world; a literal translation doesn't work here

a declaration of incapacity/incompetence

Interdict is used in Scotland and Lousiana but I think the rest of the English world uses this term.

By definition, to be incapacitated means to lack the mental or physical capacity to sufficiently care for person and property whether temporarily, intermittently or permanently. The term is often used interchangeably with the word “incompetent,” although the former traditionally describes medical status while the latter is a legal finding. However, most states use the term “legally incapacitated” to describe someone who is unable to meet basic requirements to preserve physical health and safety.
