Swedish term

tvättbadet

Swedish to English Tech/Engineering Engineering (general) Manual of a device
I am translating a manual of an oil separator and I could not find the appropriated translation for the word tvättbadet, it appears in the original in these sentences:

Den arbetar gravimetriskt dvs. den utnyttjar densitetsskillnaden mellan olja och vatten för att på så sätt avlägsna oljan i "tvättbadet".

Ytvatten tas kontinuerligt från "tvättbadet" via ytvattenupptagaren. Den ställer in sig automatiskt så att den bara tar ytvatten.

And the translation:

It works gravimetric ie. it exploits the density difference between oil and water to thereby remove the oil into the "tvättbadet".

Surface water is taken continuously from the "tvättbadet" through the surface water gatherer. It sets itself up automatically so it only takes surface water.

Thanks for the help. :)

oil skimmer tank/container

Gravity based separators are base on the fact that oil 'floats on water'. This makes it possiple to 'lick it off' from the water surface, thus 'liberating' the water of the oil.
Consequently the given text seems like nonsense, describing a method that does not work.
The word "tvättbad" seems totally out of place.
Peer comment(s):

agree Michael Ellis : I agree with Mats on the apparent nonsense of this text. However, if pushed I would translate it simply as 'container'.

oil (skimming) decanter

Not entirely satisfactory as the sentence will have to be changed but the oil falls to the bottom of the decanter (in English)

It can be 'assisted' by centrifugal force or other tricks but the word 'decanter' is still often used in the compound noun combinations

Ooops, it's the water that falls to the bottom I think (oil floats on water)
