Hello,
A question relating to a release letter for a prisoner in Peru.
The prisoner is being released "a merito del OF. No. 123456 del Area de Libertades de la Oficina de Registro Penitenciario".
I therefore understand that "Area de Libertades" is some kind of dept within the the Oficina rather than an actual location? I know there is a region called La Libertad in Peru but this is not the same place as this prisoner is being detained.
Please can someone advise on what this should be. Many thanks.
Also, if anyone has any suggestion for the meaning of the abbreviation OF. in the above please let me know.

If "Área de Libertades" as I understand it in your sentence is a body similar to a Parole Board. When a prisoner is released based on good conduct while imprisoned. a prisoner is granted parole.

I know, but the asker wanted to understand, and I could explain. That's why I added (lit.). Do you have a suggestion of a similar body in the English world? BTW 'Area de libertades' is completely weird in Spain too :)
