This document concerns a space rocket, I cannot disclose which one. I have consulted various online resources and done research into the construction of space rockets but can't find what 'palette ripée sur table' means. ESR is an equipped solid rocket motor. It is talking about how the rocket motors are integrated on the launch pad. Any help is much appreciated.

Discussion

James Greenfield (asker) Apr 3, 2014:
There is a table of definitions earlier in the document and under ESR it gives 'equipped SRM'. Under SRM it gives 'Solid Rocket Motor'. Thanks though, and the link you provided in my other question will prove very useful.
chris collister Apr 3, 2014:
I wonder whether "ESR" doesn't stand for "expendable solid rocket"? Usually this is known as an ESRB or just SRB (solid rocket booster) - see useful acronym dictionary http://lasco-www.nrl.navy.mil/index.php?p=content/acronym. CNES, ESA and others use many EN acronyms since many of these terms were born in the USA, and American English is the lingua franca of multinational space organisations.

pallet (platform) slid onto the pad

ripée comes from the verb riper : to slide
table is pad (launch pad)
palette is just pallet or platform

(See your other question concerning air bearings and the photo on the website you sent the link for)
Example sentence:

the ESR mounted on a platform slid onto the pad

Note from asker:
I see now, thanks very much for the clear explanation.
