English to German Bus/Financial Law: Contract(s) Salvatorische Klausel
Hallo liebe Kollegen!

Im Rahmen einer salvatorischen Klausel steht der Begriff "severability" (hier in Klammern) einzeln.
Was ist an dieser Stelle in Verbindung mit period hier gemeint?
Werde daraus an dieser Stelle nicht ganz schlau ...

Severability
Should any individual provision of this Agreement be or become partly or fully invalid or unenforceable, or should this Agreement contain any omission, this shall not affect the validity and enforceability of the remaining provisions. (...) If invalidity or unenforceability of a provision is caused by a measurement of performance or time (period or ***severability***) set forth therein, the respective provision shall be deemed agreed with a legally permissible measurement reaching as close as possible to the original measurement.

Thank you, David. Yes, I think you're right. Some sentences and expressions are really standard and sometimes one can only guess what they actually wanted to say ... :-)

Carmen, it looks to me as if you have been handed the task of back-translating a (not very-well translated) text. My reason for saying this is that, while the first sentence before your ellipsis is very much a standard form of words (and is to be found in toto in dictionaries), the following sentence is not, and it seems as if the translator has got it round their neck. For a start, the 'Bezüge' don't seem to work, and it doesn't make terribly good sense either. This isn't terribly helpful, I know, but if you bear the possibility in mind, it might help.

könnte ich mir vorstellen, dass gemeint sein könnte ;-)
period bezieht sich auf time und severability dann wohl auf measurement of performance. Wenn also die zu erbringende/erbrachte Leistung nicht teilbar/nicht zu einem bestimmten Zeitpunkt messbar ist, nicht mittendrin abgebrochen werden o. Ä.
