German term

Krampfzustände

German to English Medical Medical (general)
Reported as a CNS side effect of medication.

[State of] convulsion?? I fear that 'convulsion' may be an overtranslation.

Perhaps simply "cramping"?

recurring cramps, as we have the plural 'Zustände'.
uyuni Jul 31, 2014:

David Hollywood Jul 31, 2014:
"convulsion" is too strong here
David Hollywood Jul 31, 2014:

[convulsive] seizures

... I would cautiously suggest as the drug which cuasec thei side effects is not mentioned.

While the overall incidence of central nervous system (CNS) side effects is low (1- 4%), convulsive seizures have been reported in patients taking fluoroquinolones, especially if they are also taking non-steroidal inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

Nervous system side effects are common from cancer and cancer treatments. The nervous system is made up of the central nervous system (CNS) and the peripheral nervous system (PNS). ...
Types of nervous system side effects

Some of the nervous system side effects that may be caused by cancer or cancer treatment include the following: ...
- Asthenia, a general weakness that causes an overall lack of strength; hemiparesis (weakness on one side of the body); drowsiness
- Paralysis of different parts of the body, ranging from hemiplegia (paralysis of one side of the body) to paralysis of a smaller area, such as the muscles in the face
- Seizures

Antibiotic-induced neurotoxic side effects can have a myriad of neurologic presentations. Patients with prior central nervous system (CNS) disease, renal insufficiency and advanced age may be particularly vulnerable. Treatment consists of discontinuation of the offending agent, use of antiepileptic drugs in the case of seizures or status epilepticus and haemodialysis in certain cases. The risk of CNS toxicity may be reduced via dosage adjustments in high risk populations.

convulsions

1) If it is CNS, then it is probably not "cramps".
2) Thinking the other way round, the only term I would consider to translate as "Krampfzustände", is "convulsions".

However, it would certainly add a lot of CL if we knew which drug we are talking about.
