Portuguese term

vicio intrínseco do bem ou interesse segurado

Portuguese to English Law/Patents Insurance
This text below is the one only sentence (standing alone) of a clause (called Inherent Vice) in a insurance policy:

"Nao especificado pelo Segurado vicio intrínseco do bem ou interesse segurado (conforme o Código Civil), ou não aceito tal risco pela Seguradora, o mesmo não se inclui na garantia do seguro contratado."

The first half of the text is what I'm doubting (as well as "garantia do seguro" toward the end), but this is my try:

"Inherent vice of the insured goods or interest (according to the Brazilian Civil Code) not specified by the Insured, or such risk not agreed by the Insurer, excluded in the insurance guarantee taken out."

Notwithstanding that these matters were only perilous to a work of art which was bound to deteriorate, it can be difficult to argue that the dominant factor was the inherent vice of the insured item.

inherent defect of the insured article or interest

"Inherent *defect* of the insured goods or interest *pursuant* to the Brazilian Civil Code) *undisclosed* by the Insured, or such risk as is not *accepted* by the Insurer*s* (fem>corp>plural), *is not included* in the insurance *cover* taken out (effected)"

Perhaps the asker should read an insurance primer or insurance chapter of any US or UK/Irish etc. commercial or business law book.
