Spanish term

isostismo

Spanish to English Other Architecture Cuban architectural degree college transcript
I simply can't find this word from a Cuban college transcript for a graduating architect, 1986-1987, not much context, I'm afraid:

Armaduras planas. Formacion estructural, condiciones de ISOSTISMO en las armaduras. Tipos de armaduras. Requisitos para que una armadura sea ideal.

As always, a thousand thanks!

the translation would be: Structural Formation, Isostatic Conditions or Conditions of Isostasy in the armatures, in other words an armature that is under equal pressure from all sides

neutral philgoddard : This is a geological term.

it is used in geology, also used in atmospherics and structural building, it is the state of being in isostatic balance, which is what this term refers to, Websters dictionary: the quality or state of being subjected to equal pressure from every side
agree DLyons : Seems possible. Suggest using the equivalent "statically determinate".

maybe, if it weren't for the fact that in Spanish these are called "armaduras isostaticas", which can be looked up as I suggested in my explanation, and if one looks up isostatic armature the term is used to describe a certain kind of pressure on structur
agree Cristina Gonzalez : Right, in Spanish the term "isostático" is used in reference to structures. There is "equilibrio isostático" or "equilibrio inestable" (the latter being e.g. a ball on top of another curve, not moving but needing juuust a slight push to lose its balance.

neutral bigedsenior : 'armaduras' =Framework, not armatures, which are a component of a motor.
