Italian term

raccontano

Italian to English Art/Literary Poetry & Literature
Once again from the review of the book "Passione Engadina", I'm not quite sure what's meant by "raccontano" here, also I have the feeling that the word order of the sentence may be wrong (doesn't "volutamente" belong after "cerca")?

Questo libro volutamente grazie alle splendide fotografie che lo raccontano cerca di restituire quell'insieme di percezioni che rendono Passione Engadina un raduno diverso dagli altri.

Could it mean something like "the photographs tell the story"?

Any help appreciated!

Parsing Yes, it certainly seems a bit easier to understand if one inserts the commas.

When I saw your previous question I thought there was a word missing after "volutamente". But I wonder if the parsing is "Questo libro volutamente, grazie alle splendide fotografie che lo raccontano, cerca..." In other words, it deliberately seeks. I don't know if this is correct Italian or not.
I also wonder if the sense of "raccontano" is "illustrate".

Regardless of the minutiae of meaning, I think the overall sense is clear, and can be expressed much more concisely in English.

Questo libro volutamente grazie alle splendide fotografie che lo raccontano cerca di restituire quell'insieme di percezioni che rendono Passione Engadina un raduno diverso dagli altri.

This book, with its spectacular photographs, seeks to convey what it is that makes Passione Engadina so different to other rallies.

Or, even more concisely, "this superbly illustrated book".
