agency cross (transaction / trade)

Often just called an agency cross, and also known at least in the U.S. as a dual agency trade. It's when the same agent (Mr Klein, in this case) acts both for buyer and seller:

"Operación cruzada
Es el resultado de una operación, en la que un mismo agente manifiesta una orden de venta de valores que coincide con una de compra y viceversa."
http://glosarios.servidor-alicante.com/terminos-bursatiles/o...

"Ahora bien, una operación cruzada es aquella donde un mismo comisionista posee la orden tanto de compra como de venta."
http://www.eltiempo.com/archivo/documento/MAM-604506

"Operación Cruzada: Es aquella en la que el comprador y vendedor están representados por la misma sociedad comisionista."

"DEFINITION of 'Agency Cross'
A transaction in which an investment adviser acts as the broker for both his client and the other party to the transaction."
http://www.investopedia.com/terms/a/agencycross.asp

These deals are quite strictly controlled. Here the U.S. statute on the subject:
"Agency cross transactions for advisory clients."
http://www.law.cornell.edu/cfr/text/17/275.206(3)-2

"Agency Cross
A transaction on an exchange in which one person serves as broker to both the buyer and the seller. This occurs when a broker receives opposite orders for the exact same security in the exact same quantity. When this occurs the broker must still go on to the floor of the exchange and announce the trade and wait for a better offer before executing the orders. Agency crosses are regulated like this to ensure that the broker does not favor one customer over another."

"Q306.1: Member BD1 matches as agent a customer (as defined in NASD Rule 0120(g)) buy order and a customer sell order for the same quantity of shares at the same price. Can this transaction be reported as a cross?
A306.1: Yes. This is an agency cross, also referred to as a dual agency trade. See Rules 6282(e)(1)(B), 6380A(d)(2), 6380B(d)(2) and 6622(d)(2)."

back-to-back transaction

www.bis.org/cpmi/publ/d00b.pdf

back-to-back
transactions
a pair of transactions that requires a counterparty to receive and
redeliver the same securities on the same day. The transactions
involved may be outright purchases and sales or collateral
transactions (repurchase agreements or securities loans). For
example, a securities dealer might buy and sell the same
securities for the same settlement date in the course of making
markets for customers or it might buy securities for inventory and
finance the position through a repurchase agreement.
