Dear ProZ members,
I have a doubt about the following sentence:
奴らが狙うようなものはなにもない静かな町だ
In my context, a sort of "machine beast" sent by the bad guys is attacking some coastal towns. While the machine is gone mad and it's not responding to the orders, it's more or less doing what it was meant for: devastating the Earth.
The sentence is said by one of the good guys who's trying to interpret the behavior of the machine. Which one is the correct meaning?
1) "The're aiming to peaceful towns, where there's nothing" (suggesting that it's behavior is strange, since attacking crowded towns would be more effective).
2) "They usually aim to peaceful towns, where there's nothing (suggesting he's not understanding the behavior of the machine, but implying it's not so different from the usual modus operandi of the bad guys).
Thank you very much!

seem to be aiming at, going after
pretty straightforward sentence, implying it's hard to understand why they would attack such a place
Example sentence:
They seem to be going for peaceful towns, where there's nothing for them.

Comment: "You were all very helpful.
It was an easy sentence after all, don't know why that doubt came to me... Sometimes you just "crash" for no reason.
Thank you very much!"

would go after
It means that it is a peaceful town, where there is nothing they would go after or want to attack.
