To be found primarily in pro rata reinsurance (treaty or facultative) arrangements. Furnished periodically to the reinsurer by the reinsured, it provides a detailed list of premium or loss data and other agreed-upon policy information with respect to identified specific risks. A premium bordereau contains a detailed list of policies reinsured under a reinsurance treaty during the reporting period, reflecting such information as the name and address of the original insured, the kind and location of the risk, the kind of policy cover, the policy limit, the amount reinsured and the reinsurance premium applicable thereto. A loss bordereau lists claims (outstanding and paid) and claims expenses (outstanding and paid) and provides details about the date of loss, the policy affected and the amount of reinsurance indemnity recoverable.

If the Coverholder is responsible for the production of claims bordereaux as indicated in the Schedule, the Coverholder shall prepare claims bordereaux for paid and outstanding claims at the claims bordereaux interval stated in the Schedule until every insurance bound has expired or has otherwise been cancelled or terminated and all such claims have been paid or otherwise resolved;

A premium bordereau contains a detailed list of policies (or bonds) reinsured under a reinsurance treaty during the reporting period, reflecting such information as the name and address of the primary insured, the amount and location of the risk, the effective and termination dates of the primary insurance, the amount reinsured and the reinsurance premium applicable thereto. A loss bordereau contains a detailed list of claims and claims expenses outstanding and paid by the reinsured during the reporting period, reflecting the amount of reinsurance indemnity applicable thereto. Bordereau reporting is primarily applicable to pro rata reinsurance arrangements and to a large extent has been supplanted by summary reporting.
