Hello

I've translated Triangle as Halter in the past but now I have this 'new' expression

From the picture, it is certainly not

1 A high neck halter
2 High as in hiding the bust

So it just looks like any other halter type bra and I can't work out the meaning of the new word 'montant'
The picture of it is not on the Internet but the cut is like

and this too is described as 'montant'

@ all Thanks. I went with rising halter as long halter seem to be used more for dresses and rising halter for bikinis. Couldn't see any reason not to use rising either as it is similar to the French word 'montant'

'elongated triangle' called 'high triangle' here I think 'elongated' might be the more common term, though.

Maybe you could use "rising halter bikini top" as in the link below. I don't know what the word 'rising' adds to the description but it seems like the right way to translate 'montant'!

elongated triangle

I believe it's referring to the fact that the wide strap makes the cup look like an elongated triangle. Contrast this with triangle tops where the cup is attached to a skinny or string type of strap.

neutral Nikki Scott-Despaigne : In 'triangle montant', the emphasis is on the fact that the triangular form is elongated, not in the effect it has. Uplift, push-up, enhance are beneficial side-effects, as it were. The French puts the accent on the cut of the fabric, not the effect.

I have come across a couple of sources describing the same top with different names and the ame name also for different tops. There is some general consensus around "long triangle".
