I am sure that is what it was! Sorry, the dangers of Chinese whispers
Kirsten Larsen (X) Jun 10, 2015:
Simon: exactly. I was just going to say that:-)
Simon Bruni Jun 10, 2015:
Etarra with an "a" Note that it's etarra with an "a" even if the terrorist was male.
Simon Hollingsworth (asker) Jun 10, 2015:
Most likely etArro Thanks again. Etarro appears to be what the term actually was, so that is that settled.
Simon Hollingsworth (asker) Jun 10, 2015:
year's, not years ...
Simon Hollingsworth (asker) Jun 10, 2015:
A bit of clarification Thanks for the feedback. This was a translation from Spanish to English in this years GCE A level Spanish exam. It transpires that my daughter is not that bothered but, being a translator, I was itching to find out. This was relayed by my daughter, so I cannot say for sure what the exact spelling was, if it was a typo or an error in my daughter's reporting. Not to worry, I was only curious! Thanks again to all your helpful responses
DLyons Jun 10, 2015:
Hopefully not "estar en el étero" !
Kirsten Larsen (X) Jun 10, 2015:
ETARRA :-))) De la ETA. Los terroristas del País Vasco.
Simon Bruni Jun 10, 2015:
In that case it could be "etarra" (a member of ETA). Don't remember any etarras being arrested in London recently, though.
Cecilia Franetovich Jun 10, 2015:
Language pair? Is this English > Spanish?
Simon Hollingsworth (asker) Jun 10, 2015:
Subject matter: A terrorist arrested in London" The day before yesterday, an "eterro" was detained...
Kirsten Larsen (X) Jun 10, 2015:
Podría ser ENTERO. "Typo" incluído, claro.
Cecilia Franetovich Jun 10, 2015:
Context? Most certainly this is a typo, but some context is needed to get a hint on what this is about.
Simon Bruni Jun 10, 2015:
typo? I wonder if it should have been "eterno"

It may be a typo. Eterno = eternal
More context would help.
Something went wrong...
