Determination of pesticide transformation products: A review of extraction and detection methods
In biological samples, ionic TPs can be ***excreted*** directly, whereas
the less polar ones have to be conjugated to increase their polarities
prior to ***excretion***. LC–MS gives the possibility of measuring
the conjugates, providing useful information on the metabolism of
pesticides in exposed people [130], and most of conjugates involves
the fragmentation of the groups [M−176]− and ions atm/z 113 and
175, characteristics of glucoronides, and [M−80]−, characteristic of
sulfates. However, due to the presence of high amounts of other
conjugates, some interfering peaks can be found, and an efficient
clean-up procedure is demanded again.
