English term

pecking orders

English to Russian Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters
The Christian church walks a narrow road with deadly pitfalls on
both sides. To one side is legalism: a religion of rules and rewards, the
exaltation of man’s performance, and consequently the diminishing of
the person and work of Christ. Man triumphs, and God becomes a debtor
bound to reward him for his piety and noble achievements. It makes for
Pharisees who love rules rather than God and who consider grace to be
the need of lesser folk. Such a religion points out specks and ignores
beams, strains gnats, and swallows camels. It is constantly measuring,
comparing, and competing. It is all about rankings, pecking orders, and
submission.
