Part of a record in a criminal investigation from the Mexican Fiscalía Central de Investigación para Delitos Financieros.
It appears as part of a certificate of filing:
"Fe de escrito promoción.- Siendo las xx:xx pm del día xx del mes de Junio del año 2xxx, el personal que actúa da fe de tener a la vista en el interior de esta oficina, un ***escrito promoción*** signado por el promovente ABC, en su carácter de representante legal de la empresa XYZ, en la que realiza diversas manifestaciones de hecho y de derecho, y solicita que en uso de sus derechos como indiciado, se le informe de la imputación que existe en su contra derivada de las averiguaciones previas FDT/...."
In principle, it seems to me that it is a mere brief or petition, but I was wondering if there's a specific term for it. I confess I have never heard the term before (I don't deal with Mexican law very much).

I can only find 'escrito de promoción de pruebas', which makes me think that 'escrito de promoción' on its own refers to just the written document - the petition. Unfortunately I can't find any references.

It might be easier to understand if you take into account that 'promoción' is a noun of 'promover' (to file?).
En el diccionario de la RAE se dice que "promoción" es el sustantivo de "promover". La pregunta es: ¿cual es el sustantivo del verbo "promocionar"? ¿Posible que los dos verbos compartan el mismo sustantivo?
