German term

EABS

German to English Medical Medical: Cardiology ECG
keine EABS, keine ERBS.

In a medical report:
(EKG: Synusrhythmus, Indifferenzlagetyp, HF 55/min., keine EABS, keine ERBS.)

ERBS are repolarization disturbances, but what does EABS stand for?

Thank you for your help!

Discussion

Erzsébet Czopyk Oct 19, 2015:
Dear Susanna a glossary entry can be made only after you close a question and award the points. At the moment I have no Gloss button because the question is open. But if you close I will happily do it.
Susanna MacKenzie (asker) Oct 19, 2015:
To Erzsébet Now that you provided the meaning of the abbreviation, I see that this is already a KudoZ entry, see http://www.proz.com/kudoz/german_to_english/medical_cardiolo...
Would you like to edit your entry to show both the German full term and the English translation, please? Thank you.

cardiac excitation propagation
Cardiac arrhythmias are generally produced by one of three mechanisms: enhanced automaticity, triggered activity, or reentry. Reentry, which occurs when a propagating impulse fails to die out after normal activation of the heart and persists to re-excite the heart after the refractory period has ended, is the electrophysiologic mechanism responsible for the majority of clinically important arrhythmias. Included among these arrhythmias are atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, atrioventricular (AV) nodal reentry, AV reentry involving a bypass tract, ventricular tachycardia after myocardial infarction (MI) with the presence of left ventricular scar, and ventricular fibrillation.

A healthy heart usually beats at sinus rhythm. The excitation starts at the SA-node, spreads over the atria reaching the AV-node. From there, the excitation is propagated along the cardiac conduction system until the Purkinje fiber endings are reached which are connected to the ventricular myocytes. Finally, the excitation is spread over the ventricles. Simulations results are displayed in figure 11 and are animated by clicking on the images.

Thank you for your input, but my question concerns the abbreviation EABS.
Hello Erzsébet, My apologies, I just now read your post in detail. I received further feedback from another source, which confirms your entry. Would you like to provide a suggestion for the translation? Thank you.

he reading said: sinus arrythmia, marked precordial repolarization disturbance. What does this mean. Should I be worried??

OTHERS:

Sometimes also called REPOLARIZATION ABNORMALITIES although the word DISTURBANCES in this particular context seems to be the right one.

Peer comment(s):

disagree Siegfried Armbruster : thank you for providing the translation for ERBS but the question was about EABS.
