Se trata de un circuito retroalimentado (el parámetro de salida se envía a la entrada para compensar excesos) utilizado para posicionamiento de antenas parabólicas (algunas miden decenas de metros de diámetro). No solamente debe compensarse la inercia del movimiento, sino también la fricción y el huelgo entre mecanismos (en general será entre dientes de engranajes):
• Two major control loops of the antenna control system are the position loop and rate loop. The position loop drives the antenna based on a desired angle command. Figure 1 is a functional block diagram of a typical position control loop. A major component of the position loop is the rate loop. The rate loop is a feedback control system designed to control motor angular velocity. It responds to a motor rate command signal issued from the position loop. Characterization of an antenna’s motion control system requires operational knowl- edge of both the position and rate loops.
• Unbiased voltage tests in the azimuth axis indicated that large nonlinearities exist such as friction, backlash and other drive-associated nonlinearities.
