Spanish term

acople

The evening, with a special ¨acople¨of piano and guitar, can be described as a family reunion, since the pianist's father and sister will perform together: guitarists Eduardo Martín and Galy Martín.

Thanks, franglish.
agree Thomas Walker : I think this is good - "pairing" seems more contextually appropriate than, say "combination". Unlike "duo" or "duet", this refers to the combination of instruments, not to the players.

agree neilmac : I like this, and it avoids any quibbling about "duo/duet"...

Aunque el par de idiomas parece que debería ser español a inglés, no inglés a español.

duet

A duet is a musical composition for two performers in which the performers have equal importance to the piece. It is often used to describe a composition involving two singers.

See dodgy piano+gitbox duet below:)

Peer comment(s):

neutral philgoddard : But there are at least three performers.

(Sigh) But only 2 instruments (piano + guitar)... Do keep it up though, your negativity towards my contributions is always inspiring...
neutral Thomas Walker : I don't think "duo" or "duet" is right, because in my Bing search, I found "acople" applied to any number of musicians in a group, not just two.

It's guitar and piano = 2 instruments, no others mentioned in the text sample provided...

agree neilmac : On the other hand, I agree, because only two instruments are involved, guitar and piano.
