I'm assuming you don't have a picture, or you would have answered my question :-)
The display unit itself is not suspended. I think they are referring to the products that are displayed, which are suspended.
"Hanger" or "hanging display unit" seem the obvious choices. Shopfitting terminology is almost completely devoid of standardisation, so you can usually call things what you like within reason.
